Task Commission

Before we could start writing and scripting our two minute film opening, we needed to decide what genre it was going to be.

There are a lot of film genres to consider:

Comedy: We decided that it would be very hard to create a comedic film without making it look slapstick. Another reason for not doing comedy was that we, as a group, felt we would not be able to produce a storyline and script that would be funny enough to gain marks.

Crime: If we were to make a crime film, we would potentially be promoting crime and gangs. This is not something that we wanted to be responsible for when making our A level coursework.

Horror: The idea of making a horror movie wasn't very appealing to anyone in the group. Based on this we decided not to make a horror opening.

Science Fiction: Science fiction would have taken a lot of special effects and a lot of effort and time to do all of this.

Period Drama: It would have been very hard and expensive to create a period drama. It would also be very difficult to obtain costumes and settings to create this.

After further discussion we decided that the best genre of film that we could make would be to follow the Thriller genre. This is because it would be the easiest genre to follow without looking amateur or unprofessional. I feel that it would be the easiest way to create an effective two minute film opening.
